Students in years 11 and 12 get the opportunity to learn a range of skills at 'Newstart': a training centre based in Southwark, South East London, that specialises in delivering construction skills training.

Some of the skills we develop include: 

• Carpentry & Joinery
• Painting & Decorating
• Wallpapering 
• Tiling

Students work towards an NCFE Award in Creative Craft at either Level 1 or 2, which helps learners to develop skills in carpentry and painting and decorating -  essential knowledge for working in the trade.

The course includes the use of materials and resources, the safe use of tools and equipment and knowledge of the craft to enable them to progress to NVQs in their chosen skill area.
